Why did I start this website? As I was brought up in the Dutch Reformed Church I started questioning many of the church's teachings at an early age. The answers weren't always making sense to me so I started to read a lot about the history of religion. I slowly became a non-believer but kept it under wraps, as many people do, because being a non-believer is not really acceptable in the community. Even if you are not a church goer, people  think that you must still believe in a Supernatural being in the universe,
I don't like labels such as atheist, agnostic, secularist, humanist or naturalist since any of those labels carry a lot of bagage in the form of misinterpretation and misinformation. I am a nonbeliever in anything supernatural whether it is a believe in a supreme being, astrology, psychic phenomena or UFOs, unless their existence can be verified by verifiable scientific experiments.
I have discovered that there are many "closet" non-believers, who need to know that they are not alone and would like to talk about it with others. Hence I hope that this website, and this blog, will help to alleviate some of the anxiety many people feel as they realize that religion cannot possibly be true and that it creates many more problems than it solves.
