Why are Atheists against Christians?

10/23/2016

A blog by Achilles Rave on the Global Religions website and titled: “Why are Atheists so against Christians and not other religions” and I quote “My OP is to address anti Christian propaganda by atheists. I don't get why so many atheists across the world are ONLY against Christians when there are like 4000 other religions on earth, some of which promote violence, child sacrifices and cruelty to animals. Yikes. Like the satanic practice of wicca where small birds are killed and their blood squeezed into a chalice and drank by high priestesses at their demonic ceremonies. Disgusting and dangerous is what I call them”,  Is another misunderstanding of the Christians.
Of course Christianity is mostly discussed here because of the country we live in. But an Unbeliever like me, by applying logic and observation have concluded that there is no supernatural, no gods, no ghosts no spiritual world and see the danger that religions (all of them) brings outweighs the benefits. It also rejects all beliefs in Astrology and Psychic predictions and on and on.
Wicca is a religion. Atheism is not. Here in north America, it is the Christians who want their lifestyle imposed by law on all of us and use our taxpayer's money to support churches' tax exemptions so do not be surprised that we locally object more to Christianity. Atheist in other countries, under often life threatening conditions, work hard to get rid of their local superstitions and religions, to improve their society.
The writer of this article shows the narrow perspective of the North Americans without seeing the big picture. No surprise here. Atheism is based on observation and logic as well as the result of more and more facts established by science, while religion is based on ancient philosophers with no understanding of nature and unproven suppositions. Wake up people. Stop living in a fantasy word.

Free Will decides Heaven or Hell?

The requirements for a blissful eternal life, according to the Christian religious doctrine, as pointed out by many Theists, is that one must recognize one’s sin and believe in Jesus for salvation. Since one has “Free Will” to decide whether to accept Jesus’ sacrifice or not, the decision is  yours to make. Simple!
Wait a minute, I have a few questions to ask these church leaders, including the Pope, about some complications that  are popping up. How can you exercise Free Will if you, because you were born, before Christ, or in a culture which isn’t Christian, you don’t even know about this choice, after all, being born at the right time and in the “right” culture is just a matter of chance, not a free choice.

Another problem is that your awareness, as neuro-science now definitely has confirmed, is a brain-function. The knowledge of ‘who you are’ is how the synapses, chemical and electronic pathways are established in the brain to create the memories, which gives you the sense of ‘self‘.  Without memory, such as in cases of total amnesia, you have no idea of who you were. To be able, in Heaven, to enjoy that eternal bliss as the person you were and meet your previous friends and family you will need this memory. Therefor it is necessary that the data in your brain, which depends on the actual brain, be transferred to a supposedly spiritual level at the time of death when the brain dies. That raises some other questions.

People die at different ages, so a 16 year old  and a 94 year old would be that age forever? Alzheimer’s patients slowly, but cruelly, lose their awareness when the brain deteriorates. When they die, will the “awareness”, what ever is left, transfer to heaven at point of death, or is it restored to a time they were still fully aware and at what age? Babies who haven’t developed an awareness yet when they die, go to heaven, although they haven’t exercised their “Free Will” yet. Do they grow up in Heaven? What about the many people born feeble minded or with other severe mental deficiencies, and have severely limited awareness, continue these limitations forever? If they are recreated ‘normal’ in Heaven why were they born mentally handicapped in the first place? Please do not ignore these problems. Tell us exactly how ALL these and many others situations can be reconciled with the existence of the proposed afterlife on a supposedly spiritual plane of existence as opposed to the natural plane of existence that we all experience from day to day.

Do Psychics Have Supernatural Powers

10/3/2016

I am not just an Atheist, which is limited by its definition as one realizing that no God(s) exists. I like the term Unbeliever because I cannot accept anything supernatural, in the broadest sense, which can not be scientifically proven. The people who believe in the existence of the Hereafter, Astrology, Fortune telling and Karma, to name a few, always try to prove the existence of the supernatural phenomena by anecdotal testimonies and  illogical explanations of natural phenomena. NDEs for example can be explained to be hallucinations, faulty memories and confabulation (see: http://www.origin-of-religion.com/bens-blog/nde-study-awareness-finally-published ).

Lately I noticed a spate of psychics which where successful in solving crimes, suggesting that some people have special powers. When one reports such a happening one should also report extensively how many predictions by that person were made and what percentage were failures. You will come to the conclusion that the small success rates were due to intelligent guesswork rather then supernatural powers. Since there are hundreds of psychics around and if some of them really had this kind of ability,  we would solve all the crimes in the world. If Fortune tellers had their claimed powers, all the lotteries would be won by psychics. Now there might be an instance where, because of shear luck, an fortune teller won a lottery, but let him/her do it twice. Good Luck.
There have been many research scientists who claimed to have proved the existence of supernatural phenomena but if one does look close into the results, none of them, claiming success, have been able to stand up to close scrutiny of their peers.
