Prayers don't work

7/26/2015

Several studies of prayer effectiveness have yielded null results.[9] A 2001 double-blind study of the Mayo Clinic found no significant difference in the recovery rates between people who were (unbeknownst to them) assigned to a group that prayed for them and those who were not.[116] Similarly, the MANTRA study conducted by Duke University found no differences in outcome of cardiac procedures as a result of prayer.[117] In another similar study published in the American Heart Journal in 2006,[5] Christian intercessory prayer when reading a scripted prayer was found to have no effect on the recovery of heart surgery patients; however, the study found patients who had knowledge of receiving prayer had slightly higher instances of complications than those who did not know if they were being prayed for or those who did not receive prayer.[4][5] Another 2006 study suggested that prayer actually had a significant negative effect on the recovery of cardiac bypass patients, resulting in more frequent deaths and slower recovery time for those patient who received prayers.[5]

The Mystery Of Near Death Experiences (NDEs)

7/21/2015

The brain functions by electrical and chemical actions. There are many chemicals that affect the brain or are made by the brain. The pineal gland influences both melatonin and pinoline. This gland produces a potent psychedelic drug called dimethyltripamine or DMT. It seems that DMT in humans, create sentience according to an article in wondergressive.com.This narcotic is one of the most potent psychedelic substance we know of. The drug is illegal almost everywhere but it can be produced in your own pineal gland and is the substance that causes dreams. This potent drug is released by the pineal gland when the brain is shutting down. DMT is available as an illegal substance and is usually smoked. Users experience a stretching of time so that a few minutes can seem to be an eternity. They also experience religious incarnations which are compatible with the believes that they already hold. The pineal gland releases massive amounts of DMT when the brain has nearly stopped functioning, creating the hallucinations that are often recalled as Near Death Experiences (NDEs). The conclusion is that NDEs are a chemical reaction which creates hallucinations even after the other brain functions have diminished to the point that our current instruments cannot measure and the brain is considered to have died. If the patient does recover, they have obviously not died nor gone to heaven, and come back to tell us about their experiences they are recalling their hallucinations.

Questioning Heaven

7/11/2015

Have you ever wondered if Heaven exists what would it be like? Do very old people get young again or do they stay old for eternity, Do babies grow up in heaven or do they stay the same? If you had more than two wives such as would be the case if you remarried after you first wife died, would you have two wives? If you died unmarried could  you marry in heaven?  If you had a sex-change operation and you became “reborn” before you died and went to heaven, what sex would you be? If a reborn murderer meets his victim in heaven would they have a interesting conversation? Would you feel sad if you found out that some of your loved ones you were longing to meet in heaven and you found out that they ended up in hell? Please give some reasonable answers, not stupid memes or unrelated remarks. Stay on the subject please, I want serious answers from believers only. Thanks for respecting my request.

Holy Book Predictions

7/1/2015

Both Christians and Muslims keep claiming the Bible and the Koran have passages which show advanced knowledge, proving the Holy Books are correct because the humans could not have that knowledge and thus these “facts were inspired by God or Allah.

If you read these quoted passage, they are not at all clear (I have given you some samples in previous blogs on my website www.origin-of-religion) but with some twisting and turning they can be interpreted somewhat to be “correct” in a way. Here is a sample of the twisting of the original text and the explanation of what it really supposedly means:
Regarding the seas, God says: “he has let loose the two seas converging together with a barrier between them which they do not break through” (Qur’an, 55:19-20) The scientific fact that seas of different properties do not intermix has only very recently been discovered by oceanographers. A physical force called surface tension prevents the waters of neighbouring seas from mixing, due to the difference in the density of these waters. It is as if a thin wall were between.(science in Islam pamphlet)

A bit of a stretch don’t you think?

What is never mentioned are other speculations that are way of the mark such as a flat earth with a dome which rest on the mountains surrounding the earth, with water outside the dome and many other total misunderstandings that indicate that, although some of these guesses were not too far off, the majority of them are. If God or Allah had written those predictions then they were not very aware of what the universe, that they had created, was about.
